29th - 30th Oct 2011
10am to 4pm

Kumeu Art in the Garden Festival 2011 is taking place on October 29th and 30th in four award winning private gardens. This event is now in its 3rd year and has seen thousands of visitors enjoying Kumeu’s top gardens filled with artists and their creations. There will be over sixty artists from around New Zealand exhibiting and selling their work which includes paintings, sculpture, mosaics, photography, jewellery, glass art and much more.

“We have created an international event that raises awareness of the region, the artists and the creativity that flourishes in the area in some amazing garden galleries. It’s magic to see the interaction between the garden lovers and art enthusiasts” says Festival Founder and Event Director, Graham McIntyre of Kumeu. “It’s a charity event with profits benefitting local community groups such as Community Patrol, Hospice West Auckland and Kumeu Fire Brigade”

There will be music, food and beverages available in each garden and visitors are encouraged to bring a blanket and picnic and stay a while to enjoy the atmosphere. Be a friend online at www.facebook.com/kumeuartinthegarden

THE ROLE OF THE NZ ART GUILD
The NZ Art Guild is a nationwide, award winning organisation that provides promotion, support, resources and opportunities to New Zealand visual artists of all career stages and mediums. Artists receive essential information and support, online promotion, opportunities to exhibit both collectively and individually, develop professionally, create networks and receive discounts on art related services and products. The NZ Art Guild has been instrumental in launching many part-time artists into full-time careers: many have been propelled onto the international market and others have gone on to gain highly recognised art awards.

In addition the NZ Art Guild provides opportunities for the whole community to see numerous different artworks at various events that include charity auctions and exhibitions, member exhibitions and community events. The NZ Art Guild also provides art hire services to venues, events and businesses and project and event management services to various organisations and individuals.

THE IMPORTANCE OF KUMEU ROTARY
The Rotary Club of Kumeu has been serving the local Kumeu and surrounding community since it was established in 1994. The club is part of the worldwide Rotary International Organisation with a worldwide membership of more than 1.2 million people committed to providing humanitarian service, encouraging high ethical standards, and helping to build goodwill and peace in the world. There are 33,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas. Clubs are nonpolitical, nonreligious, and open to all cultures. Rotary's main objective is service as signified by the motto "Service above Self".

Although Kumeu Rotary contributes to worldwide humanitarian projects through the Rotary Foundation, its main focus is on the needs of the local community. Through fundraising, it is able to help local organisations including the Fire Brigade, Muriwai Surf Lifesaving, Kumeu Community Patrol and Hospice West Auckland. The club also has a strong focus on youth, with support for projects at Kaipara College and local schools, assisting with sponsorships to Rotary youth programs and other personal development programs such as Outward Bound.

The club is pleased to be able to assist with the running of Kumeu Art in the Garden and acknowledge the very considerable efforts made by club member Graham McIntyre and L. J. Hooker Kumeu who underwrite and head the promotion and organisation of the event. Funds raised are channelled through the Kumeu Rotary Clubs Charitable Trust to local community organisations and worthwhile projects.

THE MAGIC OF KUMEU & DISTRICTS
Kumeu Coast & Country Business Association is delighted to be a supporter of the third Kumeu Art in the Garden. We have been proud to be involved with this event from its beginning, our members are as varied as the gardens on display, and cover a vast array of the quality businesses that the area has to offer.

This annual event is a chance for visitors to access some beautiful private gardens that are normally not open to the public. It is also a chance for visitors to discover not just secret gardens, but an area that could arguably be, Auckland’s best kept secret! These gardens have been painstakingly crafted over many years to create a living work of art, and to top it off, there is also art of the more traditional kind displayed in these gardens creating - a feast for the senses!

Kumeu and the surrounding district also offers a feast for the senses, we have a huge range of world class food and wine attractions to appeal to all tastes, all within minutes of each other. Our most easily recognisable attraction is the wineries. We are blessed with the largest group of world class wine producers within 30 minutes of Auckland city centre. But it doesn't end there, around the wine there are some top restaurants, bars and cafes, clustered around SH16 from Riverhead to Waimauku. Welcome to Aucklands 'Green Belt' an appealing mix of rural charm with sophisticated food and wine, weekend markets, exciting food producers and wild West Coast regional parks with surfing, mountain biking, horse riding and other adventure sport destinations, throw in the historical town of Helensville 15 minutes north of Kumeu and you have enough to more than satisfy your senses!
