Featured artist of the week - Christine Dempster

Chris is a full time artist and who works from home originally from a spare room, to her garage and now to any bit of spare space she can find. Growing up in a tiny country community and later shifting to the city has enabled her to experience different lifestyles which has shaped and coloured Chris's life in many ways.

Chris has dabbled in art since childhood but it's only in the last couple of years that she has have painted seriously. Her art is available privately, through Cafe's and Trademe. Chris loves the challenge of experimentation as boredom quickly sets in if she feels too limited. As a result she does not have a particular style or medium. Although, Mixed Media and Collage are two areas that Chris particularly enjoys exploring!

If there is anything you would like to know about Chris's art or you are interested in having her create a piece of art especially for you please feel free to contact her.

Contact Christine via email: or via her website:

Featured artist of the week - Brian Norton

North Shore artist Brian "BJ" Norton has been painting for over 30 years. He has held a number of exhibitions of his work featuring New Zealand landscapes. Brian's lifelong intimate relationship with the land has infused his painting with both detail and perspective.
He has developed his own distinctive style of painting, making his work fresh and original. He enjoys working in oils, finding this medium allows him to feature light and its influence on the natural landscape. He particularly enjoys scenes which feature water.

Brian is a Christian who believes he has a mission to share his faith through his art. Take a closer look, and you will see that much of his work incorporates a Christian message.

Brian enjoys doing commissioned work. He has worked from photographs of a place that is special to the client, creating unique paintings that continue to be enjoyed and cherished in private collections in New Zealand and overseas. Brian can be contacted by email: or tel: 021 338 177.
