Guild Member Exhibitions - MAY '08

Adam Portrait Awards

Ti hei Mauri Ora te motu o aotea - Maori Womesn Welfare League
When: 22th April - 3rd May 2008
Where: Artstation, 1 Ponsonby Rd, Newton
Participating Guild Artist: Margaret Ngawaka

The Maori Women's Welfare League of Aotea (Great Barrier Island), have been hosting exhibitions on the island since 1998. The organisation plays an effective role in the cultural, social and economic development of the island's community and their exhibitions are a celebrated annual event. In 2008, the organisation extends its reach beyond the island through a group exhibition at Artstation, providing an opportunity for Auckland City residents to experience the essence of island life. As chairperson and weaver Noelene Ngawaka-Fortzer says, "We are part of Auckland City and yet we live in physical isolation from the city. This exhibition will generate and communicate the energy of the island to Auckland City viewers."


"Find Me" a Solo Exhibition
When: 30th April - 24th of May 2008
Where: Garage and Gallery, 62 Tuam St, Christchurch

"Find Me" is a journey through preserved memories of the wandering imagination. A day dream in effect, and a mindful discovery of the environmental abstractions within the landscape. Inspired by the South Islands amazing scenery. "Find Me" is an exhibition of extremely original, almost 3 dimensional, mixed media and resin works.


Solo Exhibition - Kirsty Black
When: 3rd - 11th May 2008
Where: Long Cottage Gallery, Havelock North, Hawke’s Bay

Located in an idyllic rural environment, just two minutes outside the village of Havelock North, Hawke’s Bay; the established Long Cottage Gallery features a range of traditional and contemporary artists. Seafood Cocktail Themed Art Exhibition
When: 5th - 30th May 2008
Where: The Bank, 21 The Crescent, Invercargill
Participating Guild Artist: Chavah Kinloch

Sparkling silver, gleaming gold and stunning gemstones form a luscious contrast of texture and colour in the latest beautiful collection of original jewellery designed and made by Deanna Gracie at her studio in Southshore, Christchurch. These four special pieces will be on show in the Flourish group exhibition during May.

New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts Exhibition

Baradene College Art Exhibition

Where: Baradene College, Victoria Avenue, Remuera, Auckland

Earth, Water, Fire - A Solo Exhibition
When: 24th May - 13th June 2008
Where: Arts Desire Gallery, 3 Neville Street, Warkworth, Auckland

Solo Exhibition - Shelly van Soest
When: 26th May - 1st June 2008
Where: Gallery O, Christchurch Arts Centre, Worcester Blvd, Christchurch

Shelly's annual solo Exhibition is a collection of paintings in a mixture of styles and genre's all inspired by New Zealand's diverse landscape, images of popular culture and Kiwiana. The exhibition will be available to view on shellyvansoestartist.blogspot.com from the 26th of may.
