Featured artist of the week - Christine Dempster

CHRISTINE DEMPSTER
Chris is a full time artist and who works from home originally from a spare room, to her garage and now to any bit of spare space she can find. Growing up in a tiny country community and later shifting to the city has enabled her to experience different lifestyles which has shaped and coloured Chris's life in many ways.

Chris has dabbled in art since childhood but it's only in the last couple of years that she has have painted seriously. Her art is available privately, through Cafe's and Trademe. Chris loves the challenge of experimentation as boredom quickly sets in if she feels too limited. As a result she does not have a particular style or medium. Although, Mixed Media and Collage are two areas that Chris particularly enjoys exploring!

If there is anything you would like to know about Chris's art or you are interested in having her create a piece of art especially for you please feel free to contact her.

Featured artist of the week - Cath Sheard

CATH SHEARD

Cath Sheard lives in South Taranaki and has been painting seriously for the last few years. She has an Advanced Diploma of Arts & Creativity (Honours) from The Learning Connexion and a Post Graduate Diploma in Sociology.

As a librarian she has a deep love of words; this, coupled with her interest in people and the local surrounds, all inform Cath’s work. She works mainly in acrylic and mixed media, and in a variety of styles. Much of her work leans more toward abstraction – particularly of the local landscape from which Cath draws much of her energy and inspiration.

Cath’s artwork can be found in galleries and exhibitions throughout New Zealand and in private collections worldwide, primarily in New Zealand and the United States. Her work can be viewed at www.cathsheard.wordpress.com.
