Masters Month Challenge - Andy Warhol (22/9/08)

Every month members are given an artist to study. They have the next 4 weeks to paint/create something inspired by the work of that artist. These challenges are completely voluntary. Submissions must be original, be of any size, medium or style, must adhere to copyright laws and be completed during the 4 week time-frame.

Guild Members in the news

A couple of months ago NZ Art Guild Member Sally Blyth (along with other talented New Zealanders such as Trelise Cooper and Francis Hooper from World) was asked to create a designer mask for The Moccona Masquerade Ball which is being held to support the NZ Burns Support Charitable Trust.
The commissioned masks are displayed in the October issue of MINDFOOD magazine (http://www.mindfood.co.nz/ ) and are also displayed in the images below.

The Moccona Masquerade Ball will be held at the Auckland Museum on Thursday 2nd October 2008. If you are Auckland-based and would like to attend please contact Sally directly to see about getting tickets sally@beyondlimits.co.nz You can also check out her Masked Creations at http://www.masquerade.co.nz/

Sally has also been invited to be official mask maker for this ball. This involves creating masks for the organizers, guests, waiters and waitresses. Congratulations Sally!!!!

NZ Art Guild South Island Members Exhibition

Our first South Island Members Exhibition opened on Monday and runs till the end of the week at Gallery O in Christchurch. Here are some images of the wonderful work for sale.



































Theme Week Challenge - Emotions (15/9/08)

Every fortnight members are given a theme. They have the next 2 weeks to create an artwork that represents that theme. These will often incorporate a certain technique, style, colour etc as an additional challenge for members. These challenges are completely voluntary. Submissions must be original and be completed during the 2 week time-frame. Members may choose to interpret the theme in any way they wish. As an added challenge members also had to incorporate the use of some form of text into their work.
