Annual Affordable Art Exhibition - Works on Paper
November 20th 2009 - January 2010, opening Thursday, November 19th, 6pm
This year's theme for the Annual Affordable Art exhibition is Works on Paper. Submissions are not limited to 2D works - sculptural pieces are also encouraged - the only stipulation is that they be made from paper and priced within the following parameters. The works must be available for sale; there is no size limit but the works must be priced at $300 or under. There is no limit to how many works each artist submits for inclusion, but dependent on response, these may not all be included in the exhibition. Inclusion is at the discretion of the Curator.

The Annual Wallace Art Awards aim to support, promote and expose New Zealand contemporary art and artists. 18 years ago James Wallace established the Annual Wallace Art Awards. These awards are now the longest surviving and largest annual art awards of their kind in New Zealand, amounting to over $100,000. The prize winners receive valuable residencies at prestigious international studios. Many of the winners and finalists of the Awards are purchased by the Trust each year to add to the Collection.

The Walker and Hall Waiheke Art Award is the gallery's major annual award exhibition. This award is for Two Dimensional work in any medium. The Award Prize is $5,000 and up to two Merit Awards are also presented. Past winners have been Rebecca Wallace for 'Fold' in 2008, Kushana Bush for 'Love Painting' in 2007, and Simon Esling for his Untitled work in 2006.
