Masters Month Challenges

Every month members are given an artist to study. They have the next 4 weeks to paint/create something inspired by the work of that artist. These challenges are completely voluntary. Submissions must be original, be of any size, medium or style, must adhere to copyright laws and be completed during the 4 week time-frame.

Photography Challenge - In The Kitchen (28/7/08)

Every fortnight members are given a theme. They have the next 2 weeks to take a photograph that represents the theme. These challenges are completely voluntary. Submissions must be original and be completed during the 2 week time-frame. Members may choose to interpret the theme in any way they wish.

Guild Members Exhibitions - August 2008

The following are some of the amazing exhibitions being held by NZ Art Guild Members during the month of August. If you are in the area please stop by and have a look - support New Zealand Artists!!!


Winter Exhibition - Magpie Gallery
When: 1st - 3rd August 2008
Where: Magpie Galley, 1 Pleasant Drive, Cape Rodney, Leigh
Participating Guild Artists: Chris Cruickshank and Lyn Morrison

Opening night 5.30pm - complimentary wine and nibbles.
Saturday & Sunday 2.30pm to 6.00pm


Affordable Art Show
When: 1st - 3rd August 2008
Where: TSB Arena, Wellington
Participating Guild Artists: Chavah Kinloch, Anne Lengauer, Melissa Muirhead, Sher Green, Jane Bold, Angela Laby, Catherine Outwin, Ronda Turk, Kirsty Black, Anni Morris, Tineswari Maruthamuthu, Silver Dunlop, Cath Sheard, Terri Dangen

The New Zealand Affordable Arts Show is a three day exhibition of New Zealand art, with a gala evening held on the eve of the event. The Show is managed by a charitable trust - The New Zealand Affordable Art Trust! All art is for sale, priced under $5,000 with the average sale price around $500.


Solo Exhibition
When: 1st - 30th August 2008
Where: Revel Cafe, 146 Karangahape Rd, Newton, Auckland
Participating Guild Artist: Tineswari Maruthamuthu

2nd casual solo exhibition by Malaysian-born artist Tineswari Maruthamuthu. Featuring a quirky mixture of contemporary and fantasy art, inspired by the artist's surreal and colourful dreams.
Times: Mon - Fri: 7am - 5pm, Sat: 8am - 4pm, Sun: 8.30am - 1pm


Edinburgh Realty Premier Art Awards
When: 2nd - 31st August 2008
Where : Otago Arts Society, First Floor, Dunedin Railway Station, Anzac Square, Dunedin
Participating Guild Artists: Tanya Dann, Anni Morris

Opening Evening Friday 1st August (invite only) where winners will be announced.


"Art From the Area" Pakiri to Matakana
When: 15th - 30th August
Where: Matakana gallery and Design, Matakana Country Park, Leigh Road, Matakana

Preview Friday 15th August 5.00 to 7.00pm.

Otane Painters Group Exhibition
When: 18-30 August 2008
Where: Hastings Community Arts Centre,106 Russell Street, Hastings
Participating Guild Artist: Jen Longshaw

Opening Night Sunday August 17,2008 from 5pm until 7pm


St Heliers Celebration of Art
When: 18 - 24 August 2008
Where: St Heliers Library, 32 St Heliers Bay Rd, St Heliers, Auckland

Bethlehem College Art Exhibition 2008
When: 29 - 31 August 2008
Where: Bethlehem College Events Centre, 24 Elder Lane, Bethlehem, Tauranga
Participating Guild Artist: Anne Lengauer

The most comprehensive exhibtion in the Bay of Plenty, this will be their 13th annual fund raiser for the College. Around 100 artists will exhibit for this event and approx 300 artworks will be submitted.

Theme Week Challenge - Holidays (21/7/08)

Every fortnight members are given a theme. They have the next 2 weeks to create an artwork that represents that theme. These will often incorporate a certain technique, style, colour etc as an additional challenge for members. These challenges are completely voluntary. Submissions must be original and be completed during the 2 week time-frame. Members may choose to interpret the theme in any way they wish. As an added challenge members also had to incorporate the use of a stencil into their work.
