NZ Art Guild Challenge #18

Every fortnight a challenge is issued to our guild members and also to members of our Facebook Fanpage

These challenges are completely voluntary. Submissions must be original and be completed during the 2 week time-frame. Participants may choose to interpret the theme in any way they wish.


For this challenge artists were asked to create an artwork which conveys a popular saying using a restricted colour pallete.


WINNER - PEOPLE'S CHOICE:

Amy Mackiewicz - "A bakers dozen"

NZ Art Guild 2010 Exhibition information

Get you diaries out and make note of these great events that you can take part in this year. We have an exciting line up of NZ Art Guild Member Exhibitions as well as events the NZ Art Guild are managing and of course not to forget the numerous other opportunities within the NZ Art Scene which we keep you updated with throughout the year.

If you aren’t a member already – now is the time to join! There are many benefits to membership including promoting your art, professional development and of course being involved in these great events.

Mar - NZ Art Guild Collaborative Project 2010 announced and distributed. Check the link to see what these amazing past projects have been. May - NZ Art Guild North Island Members Exhibition – “Anything Goes” - Held at the Bruce Mason Centre, Auckland 1st - 29th May– registrations close Feb 28th
Jul - NZ Art Guild Annual Members Exhibition and Collaborative Project - Bruce Mason Centre, Auckland 1st - 30th Jul- registrations close Apr 12th
Aug - Small Artworks (2D and 3D) Dunedin Gallery (date to be confirmed)
Sep - The Great Annual Art Swap (date to be confirmed)
Dec – “Small Packages” Exhibition at the Bruce Mason Centre, Auckland 1st - 21st Dec – registrations close Oct

Art Challenges – open to non members and members
These are online art challenges which run all year. You don't have to leave your studio in order to participate. They are announced every two weeks so members please remember to check the forum regularly and non-members join our facebook page to keep up to date. These are a great source of inspiration and encourage you to think outside the box.

Exhibitions NZ Art Guild is managing or sponsoring – open to non members and members
Feb - ARA Art Awards - top 25 secondary school art students from the Auckland region are selected to receive a $1000 scholarship from the ARA lodge and a 1 year Subscription to the NZ Art Guild. Sophia Elise will be the guest speaker this year.
May - Peace and Remembrance Exhibition, Cassino , Italy for selected NZ Artists
Sep - Exhibition at Bruce Mason Centre for North Shore Women's Centre.
Oct - North Shore City Art Awards
Nov - Kumeu Art in the Garden Festival

Venues available for member use
We still have some spaces available at the venues but get in quickly before they all get booked! These venues are all in Auckland ( Christchurch venues to come soon!) and it's a great opportunity to show your art to a wider audience without the hassle and expense of an exhibition. Check the forum for details.

NZ Art Guild Challenge #17

For the first challenge of 2010 artists were asked to create an artwork inspired by the book (or movie) "Where the Wild Things are".
